Live Z-Score Neurofeedback Training for PTSD: A Feasibility and Acceptability Study

چکیده
Individuals with traumatic experiences may develop symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and co-morbid disorders, such as anxiety major depression, substance use disorder. Although exposure therapy is considered the “gold standard” for treatment PTSD, dropout rates patient distress are relatively high. One promising approach live Z-score neurofeedback (ZNF) training, but clinical evidence sparse. Thus, current study aimed to evaluate feasibility acceptability ZNF training among individuals PTSD. After undergoing a diagnostic interview utilizing MINI Neuropsychiatric Interview, nine patients PTSD (7 females; mean age = 20.75 [SD 2.38]) completed ten sessions, lasting 20 min each, PCL-5 at pre- post-treatment. Over course study, only few minor disruptions, adverse events, complaints were reported, participants rated high on acceptability. Results from repeated measures ANOVAs suggest significant improvements in overall symptoms. these findings need be replicated larger samples active control groups, provides support that safe, acceptable, potentially effective

Real-Time fMRI Neurofeedback with War Veterans with Chronic PTSD: A Feasibility Study
Many patients with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), especially war veterans, do not respond to available treatments. Here, we describe a novel neurofeedback (NF) intervention using real-time functional magnetic resonance imaging for treating and studying PTSD. The intervention involves training participants to control amygdala activity after exposure to personalized trauma scripts. Three ...
متن کاملA Randomized Controlled Study of Neurofeedback for Chronic PTSD
INTRODUCTION Brain/Computer Interaction (BCI) devices are designed to alter neural signals and, thereby, mental activity. This study was a randomized, waitlist (TAU) controlled trial of a BCI, EEG neurofeedback training (NF), in patients with chronic PTSD to explore the capacity of NF to reduce PTSD symptoms and increase affect regulation capacities. STUDY DESIGN 52 individuals with chronic P...
متن کاملA Pilot Study of Neurofeedback for Chronic PTSD.
EEG Biofeedback (also known as neurofeedback) has been in use as a clinical intervention for well over 30 years; however, it has made very little impact on clinical care. One reason for this has been the difficulty in designing research to measure clinical change in the real world. While substantial evidence exists for its efficacy in treating attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, relativel...
متن کاملZ-score LORETA Neurofeedback as a Potential Therapy for Patients with Seizures and Refractory Epilepsy
Approximately 30 % of epilepsy patients are resistant to conventional medical therapy. Therefore, alternative forms of treatment are needed to improve efficiency of these therapeutic regimens. Neurofeedback (NFB) has been becoming recognized as one of the promising therapies improving control of medically refractory epilepsy cases. This multi-case paper describes our experience with LORETA Z-sc...
متن کاملIntensive Cognitive Therapy for PTSD: A Feasibility Study
BACKGROUND Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) of anxiety disorders is usually delivered in weekly or biweekly sessions. There is evidence that intensive CBT can be effective in phobias and obsessive compulsive disorder. Studies of intensive CBT for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are lacking. METHOD A feasibility study tested the acceptability and efficacy of an intensive version of Cogni...
